Rebecca Carter is a new self-published author. Her first book Moonlit Daydreams came to me for a review. The book contains five very short stories. There is one story called Of Children. This short story does contain zombies and it will be the main topic in my review. I did read the rest of her stories so they will receive brief comments.
There is an infection running ramped around the world. No one is certain where this infection came from but it is causing the dead to rise. Dr. Shaver creates a solution and develops biological raptors to take on the infected. But little did she know the raptors are not immune to the infection. After the raptors become infected, they terrorize their creators.
I am surprised how much I enjoyed the very short stories in Moonlit Daydreams. They are splendidly written and have little unique traits to them. This was a good attempt but there are a few things I would like to point out.
This is a self-published book and with that comes problems. One is a lack of an editor. There are a few spelling mistakes that could have been cleared out. Another thing is how extremely short the book is. I finished the whole thing in about 30 minutes. The pages contain less than 100 words using huge font. It gives the appearance of being longer than what it really is. Finally I have to comment on the stories themselves. I am a little disappointed that the stories end so quickly. Maybe that is the way the author wants her tales to be. Of Children and Midnight Strolls have excellent plots but lack substance. I would really love for the author to continue the stories but have them as novellas.
I will be honest. I was not expecting much from Moonlit Daydreams. I thought I would read the book then have to write a negative review but I actually enjoyed it. There are spots where the author needs improvement but in time Carter will catch on. I would have liked for her to wait on putting Moonlit Daydreams out to the public and written more depth to the stories. There is always room for improvements. I will have to give Moonlit Daydreams 3 Undead Heads out of 5.

I'd almost buy this book just for the cover alone!
